Management theory at the FHGR corresponds to the four classic management functions of planning, organisation, leadership and controlling. The subject of innovation management deals with the planning and implementation of innovations. The innovation management framework creates strong links to general business administration, as terms such as innovation strategy, structure, culture and processes are directly linked. The module thus fits directly into management theory in general and innovation management in particular. The following integrated innovation management framework serves as a framework concept for the individual module contents.

Innovation is the targeted implementation of new solutions to problems that create a perceptible benefit in technological, economic, ecological or social terms. The Innovation Management module shows why companies innovate, how innovation is organised and implemented along a process and which prerequisites are necessary for innovation to take place. Various processes with the corresponding prerequisites and advantages and disadvantages are discussed. Students apply what they have learnt by working on cases.
