Section outline

    • Prior knowledge, at the level of the Swiss Vocational Baccalaureate, orientation "Economics and Services", is required for the module Mathematics in the economics and service Bachelor's degree programmes (Business Administration, Digital Supply Chain Management, Sport Management, Tourism, Digital Business Management) of the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons.

This Moodle course is meant for you if you are interested in the programmes mentioned above. Test problems are aimed at showing whether you already meet the prerequisites. Recommended digital materials on the Internet are supposed to help you brush up on any missing prior knowledge.

      Online Mathematics Bridging Course OMB+

If you do not fulfil the prerequisites yet, we recommend you the Online Mathematics Bridging Course OMB+ (link in the section "Online Mathematics Bridging Course OMB+" further below) to help you catch up on your previous knowledge. With OMB+ you can study flexibly and at any time:

      • Create a user account under "Login". When registering, you must select "Fachhochschule Graubünden" under "Organisation".
      • Chapters IA, IB, II and VI are relevant.
      • Each chapter consists of theory documents, tasks with solutions, quizzes and a final exam.
      • Tutors in the call centre support you with all your questions: you can reach them daily - even at weekends - via chat, telephone or forum.

      Bonus System

In order to motivate you to catch up on any previous maths knowledge you may lack before the start of the semester, you have the opportunity to earn a bonus grade:

      • In the second week of the semester, there will be a bonus test on the prerequisite maths knowledge during the maths face-to-face lessons.
      • The test is a multiple-choice test on your own laptop and lasts 20 minutes.
      • Participation in the tests is voluntary. There is no entitlement to an alternative date or an alternative test in the event of absence or to special treatment such as compensation for disadvantages, etc.
      • Depending on the test result, you will receive a grade bonus of 0.0, 0.1 or 0.2 grade points.
      • The grade bonus is added to the grade achieved in the final module examination. However, the maximum grade of 6.0 can also be achieved in the final module examination without a grade bonus.

      Note

      • In addition to this bonus system, there is another bonus system during the semester with a possible grade bonus of a maximum of 0.3 grade points. You will be informed about the structure of this additional bonus system at the beginning of the semester.
    • Here you can find test problems to the topics Terms, Equations, and Functions. Concretely, you are expected to be able to solve the test problems without aids (calculator, formulary, etc.). Solving the test problems will take you about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Both short and long answers to the test problems are available.

If you are not able to solve the test problems, and if you do not understand the given answers, we recommend you the Online Mathematics Bridging Course OMB+ (link in the section "Online Mathematics Bridging Course OMB+" further below).
    • Here you can find further sources of digital materials on the Internet. Those parts or chapters of the materials are stated which are suitable for the corresponding topics.
